RED DEER, Alta. — Ivan Nikolishin had a hat trick as the Red Deer Rebels downed the Saskatoon Blades 6-1 on Friday night in Western Hockey League action.
Adam Musil scored twice and added an assist for the Rebels (16-7-0). Wyatt Johnson also chipped in for Red Deer, which got 28 saves from Rylan Toth.
Wyatt Sloboshan had the lone goal for the Blades (9-8-3) in the first period. Brock Hamm made turned aside 21 shots in net.
The Rebels were scoreless on four power-play chances. Saskatoon was 0 for 5.
WHEAT KINGS 2, PATS 1
BRANDON, Man. — Stelio Mattheos broke a tie in the second period to help the Wheat Kings edge Regina.
Jayce Hawryluk evened the game 1-1 with a late first-period goal for Brandon (14-7-2).
Taylor Cooper scored the lone goal for the Pats (10-9-1), who had a three-game winning streak snapped.
ICE 2, WARRIORS 1 (OT)
CRANBROOK, B.C. — Cale Fleury scored 1:40 into overtime as the Ice snapped a four-game skid with a win over Moose Jaw.
Luke Philp had the other for Kootenay (5-16-2).
Noah Gregor found the back of the net for the Warriors (11-7-4).
COUGARS 4, HURRICANES 2
LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — Tate Olson scored the first of three-straight goals in the third period for Prince George as it doubled up the Hurricanes.
Chase Witala and Sam Ruopp also found the back of the net in the third for the Cougars (11-9-1). Colby McAuley started the scoring early in the first.
Brett Davis and Justin Gutierrez supplied the offence for Lethbridge (13-9-0).
TIGERS 2, SILVERTIPS 1
MEDICINE HAT, Alta. — Cole Sanford scored the winner on the power play as the Tigers slipped past Everett.
Chad Butcher had a short-handed goal for Medicine Hat (7-10-3) midway through the second period.
Riley Sutter opened the scoring with a power-play goal for the Silvertips (11-7-1).
THUNDERBIRDS 4, BLAZERS 3 (OT)
KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Keegan Kolesar scored 58 seconds into extra time and added two assists as Seattle edged the Blazers for its fifth-straight win.
Ryan Gropp paced the Thunderbirds (14-6-1) offence in regulation with a hat trick.
Collin Shirley, Matthew Campese and Patrik Maier had goals for Kamloops (9-8-3).
WINTERHAWKS 5, AMERICANS 2
PORTLAND, Ore. — Colton Veloso was one of four Winterhawks to have a goal and an assist as they beat Tri-City.
Jack Dougherty, Alex Overhardt and Dominic Turgeon had similar nights for Portland (11-9-0), which won its fourth in a row. Paul Bittner had the other goal.
Beau McCue and Brian Williams scored for the Americans (8-13-1).
ROCKETS 6, OIL KINGS 1
KELOWNA, B.C. — Tomas Soustal struck twice as the Rockets continued their winning ways with a victory over Edmonton.
Tyson Baillie had a goal and two assists for Kelowna (16-5-1), which improved to 7-0-1 in its last eight games. Rodney Southam, Tate Coughlin and Devante Stephens rounded out the attack. Justin Kirkland tacked on three assists.
Luke Bertolucci scored for the Oil Kings (8-13-3).
CHIEFS 4, BRONCOS 1
SPOKANE, Wash. — Adam Helewka and Curtis Miske had a goal and an assist each as the Chiefs toppled Swift Current.
Jacob Cardiff and Dominic Zerger also chipped in for Spokane (11-8-3).
Calvin Spencer scored in the third period for the Broncos (8-13-2).
Swift Current’s Brandan Arnold received a game misconduct after a major penalty for clipping at 16:20 of the second period.
ROYALS 5, GIANTS 4
VANCOUVER — Alex Forsberg and Dante Hannoun both had a goal and two assists as Victoria held on to beat the Giants.
Ryan Gagnon, Jack Walker and Matthew Phillips supplied the rest of the offence for the Royals (16-7-1), who scored four times in the second period.
Chase Lang, David Brumm, Tyler Benson and Carter Popoff had goals for Vancouver (5-13-4).
Dmitry Osipov of the Giants received a major penalty and game misconduct for checking from behind at 1:46 of the first period.
